“My practice has changed completely since I was trained in Galmeon Therapy.”

Charlotte reflects on how her practice has evolved since she trained in Galmeon Therapy, the types of patients she treats, and her upcoming projects with Galmeon.

What kinds of patients do you treat?

I treat all types of patients, particularly in orthopedics for quadriceps contractures and chronic ankle instability. I also work on posture, so I treat children with scoliosis or posture problems. I also have a few patients in neurology.

Do you feel that your practice as an osteopath has evolved thanks to Galmeon Therapy?

My practice is completely different. In fact, in a traditional osteopathic training program, I find that the focus on the musculoskeletal system is somewhat limited; thus, Galmeon Therapy has allowed me to consider muscle chains as a whole and understand how they interact with the brain.

This allowed me to deepen my understanding of motor patterns and the mechanics of movement—something I wouldn’t have done naturally as a traditional osteopath.

For which conditions do you see the best results with Galmeon?

I’ve noticed a lot of results related to trauma, since those are the types of conditions I see most often in my daily practice as a Galmeon practitioner.

The results are very interesting when it comes to functional disorders—that is, where there is no mechanical problem, which is something we must keep in mind. In fact, one might think that with Galmeon we can perform—so to speak—“miracles,” but that’s not the case; with Galmeon, we reprogram a muscle, and from there we’ll see results.

Following surgeries and accidents, we’ve had really excellent results, including for the gluteus medius muscles.

I also work extensively with physical therapists who, in their rehabilitation work, sometimes have difficulty helping their patients make progress on certain exercises. In fact, patients sometimes have trouble sensing their muscles or progressing through certain stages. As a result, physical therapists refer their patients to Galmeon for short, targeted sessions focused on a specific muscle. This allows us to move the patient forward in their rehabilitation. It’s a different kind of result, but an interesting one.

The results are also positive in terms of posture. In these cases, the results are more about the patient’s comfort than about visual improvements. After the sessions, I have patients who complain less about lower back pain and general postural pain than they did before.

What are your future plans or goals regarding your practice?

My immediate plans are to learn more about neurology, since it’s a field I’m not very familiar with. So I’d like to explore this field a little further so that I can treat more neurology patients using Galmeon Therapy.

I’d also like to expand my work in the sports field, since it’s a passion of mine. So I’d like to better understand how athletes function, help them optimize their performance, get them back on the field quickly—before a game, for example—or help them recover more quickly. To do this, I need to work on motor preferences and meet new people so that I can provide even better care for athletes.
