Care for AMI Patients Following Knee Surgery
A study published in the scientific journal *Sports Health* highlights the clinical benefits of a 1-hour neuromotor reprogramming session.
In line with a previous study demonstrating the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation following knee sprains and surgery, this publication confirms the benefits of incorporating Galmeon into a comprehensive rehabilitation program.

Treatment of AMI in patients following knee surgery. A clinical study* presented at the ECOSEP sports medicine conference in November 2021 shows that a Galmeon session enables:
- A statistically significant (p<0.001) average increase in muscle activity (measured by surface EMG**) of 41%
- A statistically significant (p < 0.001) average reduction in flexum of 9.01 degrees
* Case series, evidence level 4
** Average of three isometric contractions of the vastus medialis obliquus

Effects of Low-Frequency Sounds on Brain Plasticity
Various types of auditory stimulation were compared, including some that are already recognized and used in clinical practice. Analyses of brain power and connectivity show that the low-frequency sounds emitted by our medical device induce greater activation of motor regions, both in terms of connectivity and power.
This distinctive feature is what makes Galmeon unique today.

Neuromotor Reprogramming: The Basics
Correlations between performance and brain activity show that the addition of low-frequency sounds induces a specific neural modulation, distinct from that observed with motor imagery alone, thereby reinforcing the neurophysiological basis of neuromotor reprogramming.

Mental Imagery and Its Impact on Motor Skills
Mental imagery is based on neurofunctional equivalence: thinking about an action activates nearly the same areas of the brain as actually performing the action itself.
Motor imagery influences neuroplasticity—that is, the ability of neurons to change throughout life. This can affect, for example, the intensity of muscle contraction or the speed of movement.
There is a neurofunctional equivalence—now widely demonstrated by various scientific data—between motor imagery and actual performance.

Cereb Cortex. Dec. 2008;18(12):2775-88. https://doi.org/10.1093/cercor/bhn036. Epub Mar. 20, 2008.
Furthermore, we know that neural activity and neuroplasticity are modulated by the quality and precision of the imaging—for example, depending on whether one imagines a high- or low-intensity movement, or depending on the speed of the movement.
